abstract

this paper presents an exact analytical solution for two-dimensional conductive heat transfer in spherical composite pressure vessels .the vessels are in spherical shape and fibers are winded in circumferential direction. the analytical solution is obtained under the general boundary conditions which consist of convection, conduction and radiation inside/outside of vessel. the heat transfer equation for orthotropic conduction in spherical coordinates is derived and solved using separation of variables method based on the legendre and euler functions. here, the effect of fiber's angle on heat diffusion in orthotropic spherical pressure vessels is investigated in detail. these results can be used extensively for analyzing the thermal stress in this kind of vessels.

Hyperbolic Heat Conduction in Composite Materials

A hyperbolic heat conduction (HHC) equation has been proposed to replace Fourier heat conduction equation in cases heat transfer takes place in a very short period of time or at extremely low temperature. There is a growing interest in the investigation of HHC problem in recent years, but to the author’s knowledge, HHC in composite media in multidimension has not been studied up to date. This p...

Heat conduction through a DNA-gold composite.

This paper reports results from electrical and thermal conduction measurements carried out on the DNA-gold composite for which the overall conduction is shown to be dominated by the DNA rather than the discontinuous gold coatings. The electrical and thermal conductivities of the composite were about 14 S/cm and 150 W/(m K) at room temperature, respectively. The resulting value of 3.6 x 10(-4) W...

Effect of Radiation Heat Loss and Ventilation on Dust Explosions in Spherical Vessels

The flame propagation through a coal dust-air mixture in a spherical vessel was studied by means of a one-dimensional, Arrhenius-type kinetics and quasi-steady model. The model includes the evaporation of the volatile matter of dust particles into a known gaseous fuel (methane) and the single-stage reaction of the gas-phase combustion. Effect of venting devices as safety idea and the radiation ...

Stress Concentration Factors in Spherical Vessels with Single Oblique Nozzle

Finite element method is employed to analyze the spherical vessel intersected by an oblique cylindrical nozzle. In this survey the stress and strain distributions on acute and obtuse sides of the connection under internal pressure are studied widely although axial and moment loadings on the nozzle are also studied briefly. Stress concentration factors for a wide range of geometrical ratios in t...
